Mobile Wireless Hotspots: The library has 5 Verizon MiFi hotspots available for patrons to access the internet. Hotspots use cell tower technology and coverage. You can check the coverage map here: https://www.verizon.com/coverage-map/ Hotspots can be borrowed for 7 days with 1 renewal. Patrons must be 18 years of age or older with a library card from any Southern Tier Library System member library in good standing. Borrowers must read and sign the library’s Computer Use and Internet Policy which prohibits the use of any library device for the display and downloading of pornographic materials. Mobile hotspots were made possible with a grant from the American Library Association’s Community Connect program.

Verizon MiFi Jetpack Hotspot

Laptops: The library was awarded a grant from the American Library Association’s Community Connect: Fostering Digital Access program. This provided us with 5 HP 15z-ef3000 laptops. These may be borrowed for 7 days with 1 renewal. Patrons must be 18 years of age or older with a library card in good standing. Borrowers must read and sign the library’s Computer Use and Internet Policy.

Projector: Patrons may borrow our Kodak Wireless Pico Projector for presentations, workshops, and home entertainment. With the projector kit you can also borrower our projector screen, a free standing unit with a 4:3 80″ display. Patrons can borrow the screen separately.

Telescope: With a grant from the American Astronomical Society, the library was able to add an Orion Starblast telescope to its collection. This kit comes with a 6mm and 17mm eyepiece, a 2x Barlow lens, a 1.25″ moon filter, a star chart, as well as the book 50 Things to See with a Small Telescope. The telescope may be borrowed for 7 days with 1 renewal.

e-Readers: The library has a Kindle Fire that patrons may borrow. Download books with the Libby app to read on the Kindle.

Digital Microscope: This digital microscope has a 7″ display, and will connect to your computer for a larger display with the included cable. Learn about the physical world with a digital microscope.

SkyMaster Binoculars: These are the Celestron 71008 SkyMaster binoculars, perfect for viewing clear night skies.

Museum Passes: Corning Museum of Glass, New York State Empire Pass, Alfred Ceramic Museum. We also have the Buffalo Zoo Adventure Pass which allows for a free youth admission with a paid adult. Museum passes check out for 5 days.

Coding and Robotics: The Code and Go Robot Mouse, Artie 3000, and Ozobots are perfect for introducing basic coding skills with children. Easy and simple to use with instructions included in each kit.

3Doodler: The 3Doodler pen allows users to create 3D objects. Learn more about the 3Doodler.

Board Games: Borrow a board game for your next game night! There are games for all ages. Our board game collection includes: Forbidden Island, The Resistance, Wits and Wagers, Tsuro, Dixit, Pandemic, Outfoxed, Carcassonne, Going Going Gone, Animal Upon Animal, Two Rooms and a Boom, Fruit Flies, Ticket to Ride, Story Cubes, Word Bits, Stack and Build Phonic Flip Books, and Stack and Build Addition and Subtraction Flip Books.

Literacy Kits and Educational Posters: Literacy kits include: Word Building, Vocabulary, Beginning Sounds, Letter Identification, Syllables, Retelling, Sight Words, and Rhyming. We also have 3 Family Literacy Kits which include books, music and puppets. Educational posters cover math, science, geography, and English/ language arts. Posters include: time, place value, addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions/decimals, and money. Science posters include life cycles of butterflies, turtles, fish, frogs, chicken, apple trees, and pea plants as well as clouds, weather, and seasons. Geography includes world and United States maps. English/ language arts posters include: parts of speech (i.e., adjective, noun, verb), long vowels, short vowels, cursive, and compound words. Literacy Kits and Posters check out for 4 weeks with 1 renewal.

STEM Kits: The library has 4 STEM kits. There is one kit for each STEM domain: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The kits include books, games, toys, and more to help children and their caregivers engage with STEM. These kits check out for 4 weeks with 1 renewal.
